# Postman or Bruno

> Call the API by hand.

| Setting | Value |
| - | - |
| Base URL | `https://app.trynito.ai/v1` |
| Auth header | `Authorization: Bearer z_sk_your_key_here` |
| Content type | `Content-Type: application/json` |

Store the key as a secret variable.

## List Models

```text theme={"theme":{"light":"github-light","dark":"github-dark"}}
GET https://app.trynito.ai/v1/models
```

Set this request to **No Auth**. Pick a `model` ID from the public catalog response. Chat requests require the key and account eligibility for the selected model.

## Chat Completion

```text theme={"theme":{"light":"github-light","dark":"github-dark"}}
POST https://app.trynito.ai/v1/chat/completions
Authorization: Bearer z_sk_your_key_here
Content-Type: application/json
```

```json theme={"theme":{"light":"github-light","dark":"github-dark"}}
{
  "model": "moonshotai/kimi-k3",
  "messages": [
    { "role": "system", "content": "You are concise." },
    { "role": "user", "content": "Say hello in one short sentence." }
  ]
}
```

The reply is at `choices[0].message.content`; `usage` reports tokens. One choice; `system_fingerprint` is `null`. For attested hardware use a `:confidential` ID, for example `z-ai/glm-5.2:confidential`. [Encrypted](/api/api-reference/chat-and-text/encrypted) needs extra headers and client-side encryption.

| Method | Path | Purpose |
| - | - | - |
| POST | `/v1/chat/completions` | Chat and text |
| GET | `/v1/models` | The catalog |

`/v1/responses`, `/v1/messages`, and `/v1/messages/count_tokens` use the same base URL and auth. See the [API Reference](/api/api-reference).

## Errors and Streaming

Errors are `{"error": {"message", "code", "param"}}`. A `429` carries `Retry-After` and `X-RateLimit-*`. Model responses carry `Cache-Control: no-store`.

Add `"stream": true` for Server-Sent Events: `data:` lines with JSON chunks, ending in `data: [DONE]`. A terminal `curl -N` is often easier to read. See [Streaming](/api/features/streaming).
