# Check Your Setup

> Confirm the plugin is signed in and healthy with the status card and the doctor command.

Two commands confirm everything is working: `status` for your account, and `doctor` for your local install.

## Check Your Status

<Tabs>
  <Tab title="Claude Code">
    ```text theme={"theme":{"light":"github-light","dark":"github-dark"}}
    /nito:status
    ```
  </Tab>

  <Tab title="Codex">
    ```text theme={"theme":{"light":"github-light","dark":"github-dark"}}
    $nito:status
    ```
  </Tab>
</Tabs>

The status card shows how you are connected, the gateway environment, your plan and subscription, and your Free usage when it applies. It is the quickest confirmation that you are connected.

## Run Doctor

From the terminal:

```bash theme={"theme":{"light":"github-light","dark":"github-dark"}}
nito doctor
```

Doctor checks the local pieces the plugin depends on and prints a line per check:

* the `nito` binary and its config,
* your agent profile and its keychain credential,
* the gateway is reachable and authenticated,
* your selected model is suitable,
* your harness (Claude Code or Codex) is installed and its Nito connection is healthy,
* the Codex hook, and on Linux the terminal used for private sessions.

## What Healthy Looks Like

Every check reads `PASS`, with `INFO` lines where a check does not apply. That means the plugin is installed, signed in, and pointed at something reachable.

Doctor makes no model call by default. `nito doctor --smoke` adds a short, billable chat request to confirm a prompt reaches a model and comes back.

If a check other than inference fails, [Troubleshooting](/help/plugin/troubleshooting) maps each symptom to a fix.
