# Requirements

> Harness version, operating system, the command line tool, and an account.

## Your Harness

You need a working install of one of these.

| Harness | Minimum version |
| :- | :- |
| Claude Code | `2.1.214` or newer |
| Codex CLI | `0.144.5` or newer |

## Operating System

* **macOS and Linux.** Fully supported.
* **Windows.** Supported. One difference: if a private session crashes, its temporary profile may sit on disk until the operating system clears it, rather than being removed on exit.

## The Command Line Tool

Install `nito` globally with npm.

```bash theme={"theme":{"light":"github-light","dark":"github-dark"}}
npm install -g @nito-ai/cli
```

That one tool installs the plugin for you and powers file attachments and private and session launches. Both install guides start here.

## Account

A **Nito account**. Create one at [app.trynito.ai/signup](https://app.trynito.ai/signup), or run `nito agent signup` once the command line tool is installed. Signing up is free and the [free allowance](/plans/free-usage) covers your first requests.
