Configure the override
- Create a
z_sk_key in the developer console. - Open Cursor Settings → Models. Enter the key in the OpenAI API key field and set Override OpenAI Base URL to
https://app.trynito.ai/v1. - Add or select a model ID that Cursor accepts and that appears in the Nito catalog. Send a short prompt in a local Chat session.
Known limits
Cursor may reject a model ID, especially one that collides with a built-in model, or send a request shape that the Nito endpoint cannot accept. A 400 response mentioning missingmessages after Cursor sends input indicates this request-format problem. Changing the model name does not repair that mismatch. Cursor’s support team says custom gateways are not fully supported through this override.
If the check fails, OpenCode and Cline have explicit custom provider configuration. You can continue using Cursor as your editor while running one of those tools separately.
See Cursor’s API key settings for its supported BYOK scope.
